Process
Whether you’re looking to establish an online presence, or just need to overhaul your existing web site, Padstow Designs can help. Here’s a look at how the design & development process works:
Step One: Objective and Scope
What is the goal of your website (there may be more than one)? Are we redesigning an existing website, or starting from scratch?
Who is your target audience? Really take some time with this question…this will drive the entire project: site structure, look & feel, search optimization techniques, the whole shebang. What kind of features will your site need to have (i.e., content management, calendar, online forms, etc.) Do you have a look & feel in mind, or website addresses that represent the style you would like? Websites are so very subjective, but you should certainly enjoy your own website’s design. Send me some websites you DON’T like, too - it’s just as helpful!
Figuring out just what you want to do online helps lay the groundwork for the whole project, and provides me with an idea of the project scope. Let’s map out the page structure and get started…
Step Two: Design Concepts
Based on Step One, I create draft designs and post them for your review. This begins an iterative process of review and refine, until everyone’s happy with the outcome.
Step Three: Development
With the design concept approved, let the programming begin. My primary goal is to keep the code clean and current to today’s best HTML practices. Solid, streamlined coding helps with everything from accessibility to search engine optimization.
Step Four: Final Review and Launch
A last look at the details before going “live”. Your final approval is required before I launch your site.
Step Five: Promote
Submission to major search engines. Note that much of your site’s promotional success depends on the actual code behind it – I can work with you to make sure your audience can find you!
Step Six: Maintain
A fresh web site keeps visitors coming back! Let us help you keep your site current. We can handle your update schedule, whether your needs are daily or just every once in a while.
